David Knight is the Chief Revenue Officer for Advance Ohio, publishers of The Plain Dealer, Sun News and cleveland.com. Prior to joining Advance Ohio, he was the VP of Customer Experience for Actsoft, Inc, a leading SaaS company in the mobile workforce management and IoT space. For more than 5 years, he led the company’s global customer experience center and worked with telecoms such as Verizon, T-Mobile, Vodafone, Bell Canada and others.
David has over 25 years of experience in digital marketing sales and operations, customer experience management, business operations, and mobile innovation for news media and internet companies. He has held senior leadership positions at The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Tampa Bay Times, Arizona Republic and NBC-12 News among others. He has been recognized for his successful leadership of customer relations and strategic revenue partnerships for major brands like CNBC, Charles Schwab, Weather.com and Macy’s.
He led the revenue teams for the launches of Cars.com, CareerBuilder.com, Apartments.com, Philly.com, Miami.com, TampaBay.com, PolitiFact.com and others. While working in Philadelphia, he co-founded and chaired The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Intelligent Investing Conference and Expo — the largest investing education conference on the East Coast.
David is a Toastmasters International public speaking champion. He has lectured for the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Howard University, Yahoo! CEO Summit, and The Software & Information Industry Association. He is a recipient of the Yahoo! Advertising Innovator of Year award. Selected for the 2023 class of Leadership Cleveland. In September 2022, he received the Editor & Publisher Magazine award as one of the Top 25 Media Leaders Over 50.
David is a committee member for the Cleveland Clinic’s Velosano Bike to Cure event and is passionate about closing the digital divide in underserved communities. He is a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia and currently resides in Tremont, Ohio with his wife, Marnie.
